Colleen Lye, UC Berkeley

Colleen Lye teaches in the Department of English at UC Berkeley is affiliated with the Department of Rhetoric and the Designated Emphasis on Critical Theory. She is a board member of the Asian American Research Center. She is the author of America’s Asia: Racial Form and American Literature 1893-1945 (Princeton 2005), and the coeditor of After Marx: Literature and Value in the 21st Century (Cambridge 2022), and several special issues on topics such as forms of Asia, culture and finance, the humanities and the crisis of the university, and peripheral realisms.

Wen-hsin Yeh, UC Berkeley

Distinguished Professor, History She/Her/Hers I am a historian of late imperial and modern China and the Chinese maritime. My current project, on maritime China, explores the following: a) Chinese constructions of the maritime as domains of sovereignty and territorialization; b)Chinese diaspora and the cultural constructions of de-territorialized Chineseness; c) the transformation of Taiwan as a site where the diverging trends and the geo-strategic dynamics intersect.
