Julian Chun-Chung Chow is Hutto-Patterson Charitable Foundation Professor at the School of Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley. A first-generation immigrant from Hong Kong, he received a B.A. in Sociology/Social Work from Tunghai University in Taiwan and a Master’s and doctorate degrees in Social Welfare from Case Western Reserve University. His research focuses on the delivery of social and mental health services within ethnic and immigrant neighborhoods, with a particular emphasis on Asian Pacific American communities. Currently, his research explores the ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economic wellbeing of Asian Pacific Americans and the response of nonprofits serving this community as they address the growing service demands and substantial shifts within immigrant populations. In detail, his research delves into the daily obstacles faced by immigrant and minority families, identifies the barriers preventing their access to these services, and formulates intervention strategies aimed at improving service delivery at individual, organizational, and policy levels.

Distinguished Professor, History She/Her/Hers I am a historian of late imperial and modern China and the Chinese maritime. My current project, on maritime China, explores the following: a) Chinese constructions of the maritime as domains of sovereignty and territorialization; b)Chinese diaspora and the cultural constructions of de-territorialized Chineseness; c) the transformation of Taiwan as a site where the diverging trends and the geo-strategic dynamics intersect. I am interested in related issues both of internal laws and national constructions. Email: sha@berkeley.edu Website: https://history.berkeley.edu/wen-hsin-yeh LinkedIn:
